Fractional CO2 Laser

The fractional carbon dioxide laser is a method of skin resurfacing, with effects similar to those of chemical peels and dermabrasion, except it removes skin layers by vaporization rather than with chemicals or a sanding device.

The fractional carbon dioxide laser is a method of skin resurfacing, with effects similar to those of chemical peels and dermabrasion, except it removes skin layers by vaporization rather than with chemicals or a sanding device. Vaporizing the outer layer of the skin stimulates collagen production, and the skin restructures itself as it heals.

The CO2 laser is a highly effective anti-aging procedure that can be used to correct mild to severe skin problems ranging from deep wrinkles, dark spots, and scars from acne or other causes. It can be used on the entire face or specific areas.

Some patients may benefit from the laser’s mild “tightening” effect on the skin, particularly in the lower eyelid area where the skin often becomes somewhat loose as a result of aging.

Although very effective in treating numerous skin conditions the skin will appear red and swollen, darkens, and eventually peels off. This healing process usually settles within a week. It is important to keep away from direct sunlight and to keep your skin clean.

Fractional CO2 can also be combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) for quicker healing and better results. The deep ablation channels created by the fractional CO2 laser act as tunnels for the PRP, allowing it to enter the skin and enhance the healing process by providing plenty of growth factors.
